Google AdSense added:

What is Google AdSense?

Google AdSense is a network that lets webmasters place ads within their site.  Google handles the logistics of the ads shown, and usually is pretty good at keeping them relevent.  The ads come from the Google AdWords network - a network of advertisers willing to Pay-Per-Click whenever their ad is shown and clicked upon.

Why did I decide to implement AdSense?

I’m sure it seems like I would be implementing AdSense to monetize off of the website.  To be honest its not really that at all.  Its implementation was to help the organic traffic flow to and from my website.  Sounds odd, but here are a couple of reasons why I think this will help my overall traffic flow, and Google Page Rank.

  • I’ll be sending visitors to advertiser’s websites.  Whenever someone clicks on an advertisement they will be taken to another website.  The webmaster of this website will be able to see that the new visitor arrived from one of their ads.  Webmasters take interest into where their ad dollars go, so it only makes sense that (at least some) will see what my site is about to see where their money is going.
  • Its good to be in front of Google as often as you can.  Whenever someone loads seoeffort.com a query is made to Google’s database that loads up RELEVANT text ads.  Google is constantly aware of my website, how many page views it gets, and changes that are made regarding its content.

Link Exchange Partners Category (links in sidebar) added:

I want to make it clear if I’m linking to someone because of a link exchange, or because its something I feel is worthwhile.  To do this I will have a separate category for link exchanges, and websites I feel are useful to anyone involved in web design & development.  I think this is important for a few reasons.

  • It will let my readers know what sites I use as development resources.
  • It will be clear what sites I choose to do link exchanges with.
  • It will increase my outbound links, which I think (as long as its done wisely) can help Page Rank.
